Weekend (2011)

A one-night stand that becomes something more - an unconventional love story between two young men trying to make sense of their lives.

Weekend was shot on location in Nottingham, UK in October 2010 the film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2011 winning the Emerging Visions Audience Award and picking up North American distribution with IFC’s Sundance Selects label. The film went on to play at many worldwide festivals including London, Karlovy Vary, Rotterdam, Thessalonki, Rome, Goteborg, Outfest and BAM Cinemafest New York. The film was released in the US in Sept 2011 and in the UK in November of the same year. It also had  theatrical release in Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux, Netherlands, Poland and Brazil. In the US the DVD and Bluray was released by the prestigious Criterion Collection following it's theatrical run. 

Weekend has picked up over 25 international awards including the MovieZone Award at Rotterdam, the Grand Jury Prize at Outfest, 2 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAS), a London Critics Circle Award and the Evening Standard Award for Best Screenplay. The film also appeared on many ‘Best of the Year’ lists including The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Salon, Slate Magazine, Total Film, The Telegraph, The Independent, Film Comment, IndieWire, LA Weekly and Sight & Sound. We also won a ‘Golden Tomato’ on the Rotten Tomatoes website for being one of the best reviewed films of the year.
